Passenta

Industry solution

Digital Product Passport for cosmetics & care

“Natural”, “vegan”, “climate neutral”? Claims need evidence. Passenta links product data, evidence and supply chain of your cosmetic products — auditable instead of actionable.

Where your industry stands

No passport obligation yet

There is no passport duty for cosmetics; the Cosmetics Regulation and product information file (CPNP notification) apply. The pressure comes from green claims regulation, retail and consumers: sustainability claims must be verifiable, ingredient transparency becomes standard — and voluntary passports become a differentiator.

As of July 2026. Regulatory information summarised to the best of our knowledge — not legal advice; the EU legal texts prevail.

What the industry is dealing with

Claims under scrutiny

Advertising claims without evidence become legally risky — green claims rules and competition law demand verifiable foundations.

INCI is just the beginning

Consumers and retail want more than the ingredient list: origin, cruelty-free, packaging, carbon — substantiated, not asserted.

Raw material upstream chains

Actives and raw materials come globally — collecting upstream suppliers' evidence is tedious and rarely structured.

What Passenta takes over

Claims with evidence

Every sustainability statement attaches to evidence with validity; unsubstantiated claims surface in the gap report before they hit the market.

Transparency via QR code

End customers reach substantiated product information via the QR code — more than the label, controlled per visibility.

Raw material collaboration

Raw material and packaging suppliers contribute via link — in 24 EU languages, without an account, with a documented chain.

Industry profile available in Passenta — field catalogue included.

  • Signed, immutable passport versions
  • Supplier collaboration in all 24 official EU languages
  • Transparent pricing — no sales call required

Frequently asked questions

Is there a passport obligation for cosmetics?

No. The Cosmetics Regulation and CPNP apply; ESPR currently excludes cosmetics. Relevant are green claims requirements and retail wishes — a voluntary, substantiated passport answers both.

Does this help against greenwashing accusations?

It lowers the risk structurally: claims are linked to evidence, gaps become visible, published versions are signed and dated. The legal assessment of your claims remains your counsel's task.

Does Passenta replace the product information file?

No — the PIF remains your regulatory file. Passenta structures the market and supply chain data and makes it shareable; you connect existing systems via API.
